How To Get To Greensboro
Greensboro has a very central location within North Carolina, making the city easy to reach from most places in the state by car.
Also, the city can be accessed in an easy way from other large cities outside of the state, such as Richmond, VA.
Besides that, those that want to get to Greensboro by airplane can do so by flying into Piedmont Triad International Airport.
This is an airport that lies next to Greensboro.
Besides that, it is possible to travel to Greensboro by bus as well.

Weekend in Greensboro: Day 1
Discover Downtown Greensboro
Let’s start this weekend in Greensboro by going to Downtown Greensboro.
Downtown Greensboro is a thriving place with a lot of great things that you can do there.
For example, you can see beautiful historic architecture in this part of the city.
Also, there are several museums, performing arts theaters, and art galleries in Downtown Greensboro.
And this place of the city is also packed with restaurants and stores.
When you start your weekend by going for a walk in Downtown Greensboro, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. You’ll be able to get to know the city and have a fun time doing so.
Visit LeBauer Park
You can also find LeBeauer Park in Downtown Greensboro.
This is a lovely 4-acre city park that is perfect for a relaxing stroll.
Also, there sometimes are events at LeBauer Park that can be a lot of fun. So when you are spending some time in the city of Greensboro, I recommend checking in advance if there’s a festival that takes place in the park when you are visiting.
That way, you can have a fun time!

Learn New Things at the Greensboro History Museum
Want to truly get to know the city of Greensboro? Then, the Greensboro History Museum should be your next stop on the first day of your weekend.
At this museum, you can find a collection of all kinds of historic objects that together tell the story of the city of Greensboro and Guilford County.
You can also see interesting paintings and immersive exhibits here, such as an old classroom.
In total, there are more than 30,000 objects in the museum’s collection.

Check Out the Weatherspoon Art Museum
The next stop on the first day is the Weatherspoon Art Museum.
This is a large museum that is part of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The museum has one of the most significant collections of contemporary and modern art in the southeastern part of the United States.
There are thousands of works of art and there are works by many famous artists, such as Willem de Kooning, Cindy Sherman, and Andy Warhol.
You will not have enough time on this day to see the whole collection, but it is great to see the highlights. If you like the art and stay for 3 days in Greensboro, I recommend going back to the museum on the third day.

Go to a Show at the Carolina Theatre
A great way to end the first day of your Greensboro weekend trip is by going to the Carolina Theatre.
This is a historic theater that looks very beautiful. The theater was created in the year 1927.
The interior has many beautiful details and the stage looks very impressive.
Lots of great shows take place at the theater throughout the year.
For example, there are concerts and plays that are wonderful, and there are movie screenings as well.
Furthermore, the acoustics of this place are good and you can get great concessions at the theater that will make going here an even nicer experience.

Weekend in Greensboro: Day 2
Visit the Blandwood Museum
Next, you should explore the Blandwood Museum.
This is a museum that is located at 447 West Washington Street in downtown Greensboro. This is a historic house museum.
You can see a beautiful Federal style farmhouse here from the year 1795. This house was the home of Governor John Motley Morehead.
What’s special about the building is that is a great example of the Italian Village Style. And it is one of the oldest examples of it in the United States.
The building is registered as a National Historic Landmark.
Nowadays, the house is open to the public for tours and all kinds of events take place at the house.

Check Out Elsewhere
After checking out the Blandwood Museum, you can go to Elsewhere.
This is a living museum and artist residency that is located inside a former thrift store.
Elsewhere is a place that is always changing.
You can go here to discover great art, see unique objects, and take part in programs.
At this place, you can see great performing arts and visual arts. Also, it is possible to do workshops at this place.
The collection of Elsewhere includes vintage clothing, books, kitchen objects, toys, and much more.
Moreover, there are interesting art installations.

Go for a Walk at the Greensboro Botanical Garden
Like nature? Then, you’ll certainly like the next stop of this itinerary.
You can go to the Greensboro Botanical Garden.
This is a beautiful garden where you can find a large variety of nature, including roses, ferns, and ferns.
Also, there is a beautiful waterfall and this place is great for spotting native birds.
This combined with good walking paths, makes the garden perfect for a relaxing walk.
Also, what’s great is that there is no admission fee to visit the park. This makes it possible to see the garden for anyone.

See a Performance at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts
In the evening, I recommend you go to the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts.
This is a large performing arts theater that has more than 3,000 seats.
At the theater lots of different performances take place, so there’s likely a performance that you like. For example, there are Broadway shows, concerts, and other types of performances.
Which show you can see at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts depends on when you are going to Greensboro for a weekend, so I recommend checking out the center’s website when you are visiting.

When you have more than 2 days in Greensboro, here are some other things that you can do on the third day.
Go to the International Civil Rights Center & Museum
You could go to the International Civil Rights Center & Museum.
This is a museum that you can find on the location of a protest of the civil rights movement by four students from the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
The museum is dedicated to the remembrance of this protest and other protests of the civil rights movement.
There are interesting exhibits and it is possible to do a guided or self-guided tour of the museum.

Visit the Greensboro Science Center
Another interesting place to see if you’re 3 days in Greensboro is the Greensboro Science Center.
This is a science museum and zoo that is located in Downtown Greensboro.
The museum and zoo consist of various attractions.
For example, there is a zoological park where you can see red pandas, crocodiles, lemurs, and many other animals.
At the science museum, there are exhibits about extreme weather, exhibits about prehistory, and other exhibits. The exhibits of the museum can be fun to see with kids as well.
Furthermore, there is an aquarium with many different species of marine animals, such as sharks, otters, and penguins.
Also, the OmniSphere Theater at the museum can be great to visit too. This is a dome movie theater where you can see films about the universe.

Relax at the Gateway Gardens
The Gateway Gardens can be great to visit on the third day of your weekend.
At this place, you can find many different gardens, including a rain garden and a children’s garden.
There are paved walking paths that make going for a walk in the garden easy to do.
What’s great is that you can visit the garden for free and on every day of the year, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas day.

See Nature at the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden
The Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden is another great garden in the city that could be great for a relaxing walk when you are spending a weekend in Greensboro.
You can find many different plants in this garden.
What’s great is that there is a “Sensory Garden”.
This is a garden where you can have great experiences for all your senses. There are relaxing sounds, you can see beautiful things, there are beautiful textures, and there’s much more.

How To Get Around Greensboro
Getting around Greensboro is very easy to do.
Of course, you can travel to all parts of the city by car or by taxi in a convenient way.
Besides that, there is good public transportation in Greensboro. The bus company, the GTA, has many routes that connect most areas in the city. So if you want to travel by bus, that’s possible.
Where To Stay in Greensboro
There are many good places where you could stay during a weekend in Greensboro, but to have the best weekend, I recommend staying in downtown Greensboro.
That way, you are near most of the places on this itinerary, which makes your trip much more convenient and comfortable.
Besides that, you then have many options to choose from.
There are many good hotels where you could stay at. For example, The Biltmore Greensboro Hotel is a lovely place.
Where To Have Food in Greensboro
The city of Greensboro is home to many good restaurants that I’m sure you are going to like. Many of these restaurants serve delicious Southern food.
So you don’t have to worry about which restaurants you have to check out in the city, but two great examples are Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen and Green Valley Grill.
